1. About shantaXPRESS

shantaXPRESS is a peer-to-peer luggage marketplace that connects people who want to send packages to Ethiopia with travellers who have spare luggage capacity on their flights. We are a platform provider — we facilitate connections and handle payments, but we are not a courier or logistics company.

2. Who can use shantaXPRESS

You must be at least 18 years old to use shantaXPRESS. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. For package senders

As a package sender, you agree that any items you send comply with all applicable laws and airline regulations, and do not appear on our prohibited items list. You are responsible for declaring the contents of your package accurately to the traveller. Misrepresenting contents is grounds for immediate account suspension and may constitute a criminal offence.

4. For travellers

As a traveller, you are responsible for inspecting any package you agree to carry. You should never accept a package whose contents you have not verified. Carrying undisclosed or prohibited items through customs is a serious criminal matter. shantaXPRESS accepts no liability for legal consequences arising from a traveller knowingly or unknowingly carrying prohibited goods.

5. Payments and escrow

Payments are processed by Stripe. When a booking is confirmed and the sender pays, funds are held in escrow. shantaXPRESS releases 90% of the payment to the traveller only after the package sender confirms successful delivery, or automatically after 72 hours of the traveller marking the package as delivered. The remaining 10% is retained by shantaXPRESS as a platform fee.

6. Cancellations and refunds

If a traveller cancels a confirmed booking before the package is handed over, the sender receives a full refund. If a sender cancels after handing over the package, no refund is issued unless the traveller agrees. Disputes are handled by shantaXPRESS support and our decision is final.

7. Limitation of liability

shantaXPRESS is a marketplace platform. We do not guarantee delivery, timeliness, or the condition of packages. Our total liability to any user shall not exceed the value of the transaction in dispute. We are not liable for loss, damage, delays caused by airlines, customs authorities, or acts of nature.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. We will notify registered users by email before significant changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
