The following items must never be sent through shantaXPRESS.

Important

Sending prohibited items is a serious criminal matter. Accounts found violating this policy will be permanently banned and may be reported to law enforcement. Travellers should always inspect and verify contents before accepting a package.

Weapons & dangerous goods

  • ✕Firearms, ammunition, and weapon components
  • ✕Explosives, flares, and fireworks
  • ✕Knives and bladed weapons over 6cm
  • ✕Pepper spray and tasers

Drugs & controlled substances

  • ✕Illegal narcotics of any kind
  • ✕Prescription medication not accompanied by a valid prescription
  • ✕Khat (qat) — illegal in the UK, USA, and many other countries

Currency & financial instruments

  • ✕Cash over $10,000 USD equivalent without declaration
  • ✕Undeclared foreign currency
  • ✕Counterfeit money or documents

Animal & plant products

  • ✕Live animals
  • ✕Ivory, animal skins, or products made from protected species
  • ✕Fresh meat and certain dairy products (check destination rules)
  • ✕Seeds and plants that may carry pests

Hazardous materials

  • ✕Lithium batteries over airline limits
  • ✕Flammable liquids and gases
  • ✕Radioactive materials
  • ✕Corrosive substances

Restricted items

  • ✕Counterfeit goods or pirated media
  • ✕Pornographic material
  • ✕Items that violate Ethiopian import regulations
  • ✕Commercial quantities of goods intended for resale without proper customs declaration
